Wi-Fi 5
Wi-Fi technology has seen significant advancements in recent years, especially with the introduction of Wi-Fi 5, yet selecting the right access point (AP) remains crucial for meeting specific business needs. In large office environments with high user traffic, Wi-Fi access points are typically preferred, whereas smaller offices tend to rely on Wi-Fi routers and range extenders.
Range extenders, commonly used in homes for expanding coverage, may not be ideal for office settings due to their limited capacity of supporting up to 20 devices concurrently. While they extend the range of a Wi-Fi 5 network, they do not increase its available bandwidth. This limitation can potentially slow down connections when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.
In contrast, Wi-Fi 5 access points (APs) are designed to handle more than 60 simultaneous connections each. Strategically placing APs throughout an office allows users to move seamlessly across large spaces without experiencing disruptions in network connectivity. Devices transition effortlessly from one AP to another as users move, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted connection without them noticing the network switches.
